In 1896 Charles Brooks of Newark, NJ invented remarkable enhancements to the street sweeper. His version of the sweeper truck had revolving brushes attached to the front fender, an improved refuse receptacle for storing the collected garbage and litter and a wheel drive for the automatic turning and lifting mechanisms for those brushes.

In 2013 Schwarze Industries is introducing cutting edge enhancements to the street sweeper yet again by vastly improving the ease of operations, performance and ease of general maintenance of its M6 Avalanche™. Service tasks that may have taken hours before, now can be done in mere minutes.

The Schwarze® M6 Avalanche™ mechanical broom sweeper has earned the reputation as the premier heavy duty mechanical broom sweeper in the North American marketplace and is a heavy-duty, chassis mounted sweeper, with a 5.0 cubic yard hopper, available in a single diesel, CNG, or twin engine diesel model. The Avalanche™ can also be mounted on a variety of chassis models, both conventional and cab over.

Prior to Brooks’ enhancements, streets were commonly cleaned by walking workers, picking up by hand or broom, or by horse-drawn machines.

After Schwarze’s enhancements to the M6 Avalanche™, sweeping will be as easy as tuning into your favorite station on the radio.
