We just read that the city of Modesto’s officials are proud of their newest vehicle to keep the streets clean: The Schwarze® A8 Twister™ regenerative air sweeper.

The Schwarze® A8 Twister™ is a heavy-duty, chassis mounted, regenerative air street sweeper with a 5.83 cubic yard hopper. The A8 Twister™ has over 20 years of successful operation throughout the United States and around the world.

According to the article Public Works Supervisor Jack Hunt said a regenerative sweeper keeps city streets cleaner than a traditional broom sweeper, which flicks trash, dirt and other debris onto a conveyor belt. Hunt said cleaner streets mean cleaner storm water entering the city’s storm water system. That results in less pollution and less maintenance for the storm water system.

The A8 Twister™ is truly a heavy-duty workhorse that provides a high quality option with a low cost of ownership.

Modesto purchased three regenerative sweepers in total, which have been in use since mid-March and replaced three broom sweepers.

Modesto keeps its fleet of five sweepers busy. Hunt said last year the sweepers cleaned 55,500 miles of streets.
